Machine Guarding – Fabricated metal and machinery manufacturing are considered high hazards industries. The processes of (i.e. forging, stamping, bending, forming and machining) can create numerous hazards to machine operators and other employers.

Struck by Hazards – Significant injuries can be produced by forcible contact or impact between a person and an object or equipment. In 2018 (24%) of MIOSHA covered fatalities were workers struck by equipment in the roadway:  Construction WorkersTow Truck DriversGarbage CollectorsPolice Officers and Teacher/School Crossing Guards were a few of the occupations identified.

Recommended Practices for Safety and Health Programs – Employers should take a proactive approach to managing workplace safety and health. They should begin with a basic program and simple goals and grow from there. Recommended practices recognize that finding and fixing hazards before they cause injuries and illness is a far more effective approach.
