Office Ergonomics: Adjusting Your Workstation – SS1057IE (14 min.)
to take the exam.
Stretching, twisting and reaching all day long can be harmful to your body.
Your monitor on your computer should be closer than 16 inches.
Sitting up too high in your chair can cause:
Stress in your shoulders
Your wrists to be bent improperly
Stress in your back
All of the above
Sitting up straight in your chair will help your posture and reduce pain.
“Ergonomics” means adjusting your work station to fit the worker.
Phones should always be held in your hand, unless your hands are busy doing something else, then hold it on your shoulder.
If you don’t make proper ergonomic changes in your work station, no one else will.
If your feet are not on the ground when sitting in your chair, it’s OK.
When using a mouse with a computer, keep your wrist straight and inactive and move your whole arm.
Always ask your supervisor for instructions if you have any questions about your work station.
