Marijuana, was legalized in 2019 for medical use in 34 states, along with the District of Columbia. In addition to this, 10 states plus the District of Columbia have legalized recreational marijuana use as well. Some employers are beginning to relax their testing requirements in fear of not properly handling a failed drug test or being accused of discriminating against a medical marijuana user. There are many employers continuing their zero-tolerance policy in fear of the increased marijuana use that would be brought about by marijuana decriminalization.
